The rainy and cold weather spurred the need for some comfort food on Saturday night. We trekked to the Mission/ Bernal Heights and holed up for hours in one of our favorite local Italian spots: Emmy’s Spaghetti Shack. We’ve come to expect an hour + wait for the dubbed, “cooler-than-thou meatballs”. We always begin the night with a margarita or Modelo (or both) at the tequila bar, El Amigo, connected to the restaurant. They play great music and you never know when an impromptu dance party to Michael Jackson will breakout. The restaurant is very unassuming; the menu is quite small and creatively illustrated by the owner; and most importantly, you only need to know one thing: order the spaghetti and meatballs.
