Summer beach staple

Beach Cover Ups

East Coast bound

Packing list: cape cod
Since moving to San Francisco, I’ve become a pro at taking cross-country flights to visit family and friends. No matter if I’m traveling for a week or a quick weekend, I’ll only take a carry-on bag (a perk of having three sisters & their closets at my disposal). We’ve been looking forward to celebrating our friends’ wedding in the Cape for months and it’s finally here! Yes, I am already packed:

2014 Summer Swimwear

Why not continue the beach-themed posts?Bathing suits 2014
1. Malia Mills: Dying to get my hands on one of these bathing suits: cut and sewn in America (and there’s something for every body type).  SF locals: check out MM at Marin Country Mart where they’ll give you a one-on-one fit session.
2. Eres: While these suits seriously pricey, they’ll last forever. I’m loving this coral one-piece.
3. Solid & Striped: I love this dark navy bikini and olive striped.
4. I’m a big fan of this J.Crew ocean- hued print and Emerson Fry blue and white bikini.
5. L * Space bikinis never fail and I love this “rock the boat” print. It’s reversible too.
6. A twist on a classic black one-piece by Rachel Pally. And if you’re a size 4: a winner.
7. This Fisico- Cristina Ferrari bikini is super flattering and on sale.
8. Melissa Odabash makes the best bikinis and kaftans.
9. In need of a sporty/ athletic suit? Try this Tomas Maier bikini.
10. Let’s be honest we’ve all stalked the photos of Jessica Alba frolicking in this Basta Surf bikini.

Coachella Outfit Inspiration

Coachella Outfit Inspiration
Years ago I attended my first Coachella festival. Let me tell you, the people watching doesn’t get much better. You see everything. My sister is desert bound in a couple of weeks and is on the hunt for some Coachella duds. While festival style isn’t really my thing, I can’t help but look to Kate Bosworth for inspiration. In my opinion, she always gets it right. She carries that effortlessly cool, Southern California vibe so well without going overboard like so many other attendees. My advice? Keep it simple like Kate with a classic pair of sunnies, sandals, and wispy dress to beat the heat.kate-bosworth-768

10 Wardrobe Essentials

10 Wardrobe Essentials

I’ve always admired my cousin Cami’s style. In fact, I requested that any time she buys something new to please send me the details. We’ve had a long-standing history of dressing like twins that we need to uphold [insert awk family photo here]. She’s all about shopping less and buying the best your money can afford. I’m trying to apply this “buy better not more” mantra to my life. Although, who doesn’t love a Forever21 cheap thrill now and again?! In Napa, I asked her what she considers the top 10 wardrobe “essentials” every woman should have in her closet. Cami recommends starting with this simple and classic wardrobe foundation:

1. A great tee-shirt you can dress up or down: T by Alexander Wang: the black muscle tee.
2. Classic gold hoops: Save your pennies and buy a pair that will last. She recommends Bloomingdale’s brand.
3. Equipment silk blouse: Perfect for the office or tucked into skinny jeans for a chic look (think Miranda Kerr).
4. K. Jacques sandals: A fuss-free shoe staple for warm weather.  Cami has this style.
5. Jeans: Rag & Bone for dark skinny jeans and Mother for a flared profile.
6. Black blazer: Invest in a smart-looking blazer to polish up an outfit. Helmut Lang and Theory are her favorite brands. I just scored this boyfriend blazer on major sale.
7. Sunglasses: Oliver Peoples or classic Ray-Bans.
8. Black tall flat boot: The 5050 Boot; Booties: Rag & Bone Classic Newbury.
9. A fashionable scarf: to complete your look. Zara and Nordstrom brand scarves are great.
10. Grey sweater: Calypso St. Barth and Vince never fail.

[How about one more? Invest in a silk shirt dress…another great piece you can dress up or down. And you’ll wear it a ton.]
