A trip to West Marin isn’t complete without a stop at Saltwater, a neighborhood oyster bar and restaurant located in Inverness. The restaurant is “rooted in its respect for folks that are engaged in the thoughtful gathering for food.” Sit at the bar and start by ordering a glass of Sancerre with a dozen mixed oysters served with their classic, made-to-order migonette. Luc Chamberland, the owner, is usually behind the bar and is a hoot. We quickly learned that he was a former ice hockey player from Canada (you bet we had a lot to talk about). He’s lived in the area as an aquatic farmer for over 20 years and his knowledge of Tomales Bay is extensive. If you plan on visiting during the weekend, make sure you call ahead.
