An impromptu trip to wine country lead to a pretty unforgettable experience this past weekend. We pulled into Sequoia Grove winery expecting to do a quick tasting. The winemaker wanted to make port the traditional way with foot-treading. It turns out my sister and I were the perfect candidates for grape stomping thanks to our short dresses. Port tastes better when the grapes are stomped and apparently it’s the key to quality port. The best part? It was the first time Sequoia Grove had anyone stomp grapes on property. Ever. I didn’t expect the grapes to be as cold as they were! My mom was in town visiting from the East Coast and was absolutely beside herself watching all this unfold. She and her best friend call each other Lucy & Ethel so obviously this classic scene from I Love Lucy came to mind. And of course John had to jump in on the fun. Here are some behind-the-scene photos from our amazing visit:
Next time I come in town you all get a pedicure! !
